AFC Wimbledon defender makes League Two Team of the Week

Jack Currie has been named in the League Two Team of the Week after AFC Wimbledon won 3-1 at Walsall on Saturday.

The 21-year-old scored Wimbledon’s second goal of the afternoon in the 61st minute when Ali Al-Hamadi collected the ball inside the penalty area and teed the left-back up on the edge of the box.

Currie took one touch before firing an effort – which took a deflection en route to goal – beyond Walsall keeper Owen Evans.

It was only Currie’s second start of the season in the league after picking up a quad injury during pre-season.

The former Eastbourne Borough loanee also won four aerial battles, attempted five challenges and completed two interceptions.

Goals from Connor Evans and Al-Hamadi wrapped up the three points for the Dons and moved them up to eighth in the League Two table.

The team is selected by WhoScored ratings across the League Two game week.
