Check out the Silhouettes Project at Juju’s Bar
One band filled with jazz soul and R&B that mainstream streaming services and funding bodies are missing out on.
From the moment the doors open, the vibe of the Silhouettes Project has been set.
A warm-up DJ playing the jazz and soul classics of the 90s and 2000s usually has the early birds and bar staff dancing before the band has even set up.
You can often find band members milling about by the bar, towards the front of the crowd or handing out merchandise on the door as the room fills up.
Then the band hits the stage and presenters and founders Asher Korner and Jaden Osei-Bonsu – who also rap as Asher Kosher and Eerf Evil – jump up to tell the story behind the project’s inception mixing comedy and rap to get the audience warmed up.
Each act proceeds to perform their set alongside a versatile jazz band to a crowd of fans and friends.
After the individual acts the night tends to culminate in a boisterous group freestyle and singalong.
Set up in 2019, Silhouettes Project released a number of singles that culminated in their first album release in late 2020 which featured 30 collaborators including the likes of ENNY, Lex Amor, and Kofi Stone.
They are a band founded on community and the very best of London’s underground music scene.
Check out the Silhouettes Project at Juju’s Bar and Stage in Ely Lane on November 11.
