Teenager appears in court charged with murder of Elianne Andam

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of 15-year-old Elianne Andam.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at youth court, at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today.

He was charged with murder and possession of a knife and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Police found a knife in Cedar Road, near East Croydon railway station, yesterday.

Ms Andam was attacked in Wellesley Road at around 8.30am on Wednesday.

Officers were at the scene within two minutes of the call being received. They worked with emergency service colleagues to provide first aid. 

Despite their efforts, Ms Andam died at the scene.
