Ex-Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha not fazed by Champions League return to Manchester United
Wilfried Zaha is not fazed about his return to Manchester United with Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Zaha spent one season at United after leaving Palace in the summer of 2013, with the winger becoming Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing at Old Trafford.
Croydon-raised Zaha only made two league appearances under David Moyes at the Red Devils before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Cardiff City.
He then returned to Selhurst Park and became Palace’s record Premier League goalscorer and appearance holder.
The 30-year-old left Crystal Palace over the summer after rejecting a club-record £200,000 a week contract offer to join Turkish giants Galatasaray, who face United in the Champions League tonight.
“I’ll be honest, when you look at my face, do you think I am bothered at all? No,” said Zaha.
“Realistically, I think I went through a phase where you either build from it or you die out from it. And, me personally, I was never going to die out from it.
“It built my character. I was determined to not let my career die out because I went somewhere and it didn’t work out. I was just determined to reach where I wanted to reach and I am here today.”
