Charlton boss has goalkeeper dilemma ahead of Aston Villa U21 EFL Trophy clash

Charlton head coach Michael Appleton will make a late call on whether Ashley Maynard-Brewer will start tomorrow’s EFL Trophy clash against Aston Villa’s U21 side.

The Addicks only have one senior goalkeeper available after Harry Isted picked up a major knee injury which has seen Australian international Maynar-Brewer return to the starting 11 for the last two outings.

Henry Molyneux, 18, has been on the bench in the games against Exeter and Blackpool.

The South Londoners also signed keeper Prince Adegoke, 19, following his release from Chelsea.

“We’re looking at a couple of different options and we will make a call on it tomorrow morning,” Appleton told the South London Press. “But we have one or two options potentially that might be able to help us out in the short term.

“If that doesn’t come through, then Ash will have to play.”
