Hull City captain admits confidence has been shaken ahead of Millwall visit
Markus Henriksen admits Hull City’s confidence has been hit ahead of Millwall’s visit tonight.
The Tigers were flying between the end of November and mid-January, stringing together a 10-game unbeaten run which included seven wins – five of those in a row.
But Nigel Adkins’ side are winless in three going into their home match against Millwall.
Former Crystal Palace striker Fraizer Campbell had given the Tigers the lead at Brentford but they were 4-1 down by the 52nd minute and went on to lose 5-1. It is the heaviest defeat of Adkins’ spell in charge.
Hull are unbeaten in seven on home turf though.
City captain Henriksen told the Hull Daily Mail: “It doesn’t matter who you meet, 5-1 is a terrible result to take and I think it is poor.
“We were so good a couple of games ago in our compact shape and working for each other, but you can see when we don’t do that well enough we have problems.
“Of course we’re disappointed, there’s been a couple of tough results for us, the last game against Rotherham was a little bit the same.
“Before we were very solid throughout the game but now it’s like 20 minutes here and 10 minutes there, this is not good enough especially when our lower level is as bad as it is.
“So we have to change that quickly because it’s a new game and a totally different match against Millwall. There’s 13 games left so if we want to finish well this season we have to step it up.
“The way we have been playing has been tough after a decent run and we have had a couple of hits in the face – but it’s important to get back to that momentum and try to get the confidence because we know when we play well we are a good side.
“When we start lacking a little bit of that energy we have big problems. In football it’s always confidence. We need a reaction, we definitely need that.
“We need to show our home supporters some passion again because this is not even nearly good enough. It’s embarrassing when our away end is full, I think they were brilliant, and you come and lose 5-1.”
