It would have been ‘very, very difficult’ for Charlton defender to feature for big chunk of Bolton game

Tayo Edun was not included on Charlton Athletic’s bench due to the fact he could only have played limited minutes.

The summer signing has missed the last seven League One matches with a hamstring injury.

Terell Thomas started at left-back in today’s 2-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

“He (Edun) has had two training sessions,” said Addicks head coach Michael Appleton.

“He could’ve been on the bench today, potentially, but the medical people are telling me he can only play 20 minutes.

“The reality is that if Terell or Tannei (Watson) had gone down early doors, certainly Terell, then it would’ve been very, very difficult for him to come on – especially after a hamstring injury.

“We’ve got to get balance right whether he is able to start a game and get, I don’t know, 45 minutes out of him. It’s difficult to do that when you’re talking about league games.”
