South London pubs host a festival of funny podcasts this weekend

The UK’s only comedy podcast festival will be hosting a number of shows at two South London pubs.
On Saturday, at The Clapham Grand, St John’s Hill, near Clapham Junction, acts will include Socially Distanced Sports Bar.
It’s a comedy-sports podcast hosted by sports journalist Steffan Garrero with comedians Elis James and Mike Bubbins.
The show started, like many podcasts, during the pandemic in response to the lack of live sports on TV.
The trio describe their act as a comedy about sports –but you don’t have to like sports to love it.
Followed up by an amusing take on the mundane, comedian Tom Price will perform his show, My Mate Bought A Toaster.
Mr Price trawls through the Amazon purchase histories of a variety of comedians.
Everything ever bought on the website is on record revealing the true story of who they really are.
Expect in-depth discussion about powdered peanuts, dog costumes, utility belts and books that claim you can change your life by improving your handwriting.
On Sunday at the The Bedford Pub in Balham, Nobody Panic: How to be a functional adult without screaming, will see Stevie Martin and Tessa Coates on stage.
Nobody panic is a classic comedy from two professional panickers who are here to help you learn from their many, many mistakes.
Festival founder Giles Gear said: “Cheerful Earful is a joyous celebration of the podcasts that keep us entertained and laughing week-in, week-out.
“As well as showcasing some of the country’s most popular pods, it’s a platform for smaller shows to connect with a new audience and grow.”
