Crystal Palace loanee praised after role in FA Cup win

Crystal Palace loanee Killian Phillips received praise from Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield after he opened his account for the club in their 2-1 FA Cup win over Bradford on Saturday.

The 21-year-old scored for the Chairboys in the 18th minute when he collected the ball on the edge of the box and hit a first-time effort past Bradford keeper Harry Lewis.

Irish U21 international Phillips, who spent time on loan in League One with Shrewsbury last season, penned a new deal with Palace before heading out on loan.

Philipps has made 17 appearances for Wycombe during his loan stint.

“Killian was due a goal,” said Bloomfield.

“His performance levels have been very good but all he was missing was a goal.

“He finally got that and nearly got another near the end.

“Killian puts so much effort and time into improving his game, and we can see that.

“He’s quality in the way we take us forward, the way he defends, how he presses – he’s a real enabler in our team. Fair play to him.”
