Man treated by ambulance crews after escaping flat fire

A man was treated by ambulance crews after he escaped a flat fire early this morning.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to reports of a blaze at a mid-terraced house converted into flats on King George Street, in Greenwich.

The fire had damaged part of a ground floor flat.

One man managed to escape the building before the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived.

He was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews. There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters from Greenwich, Lewisham, Deptford, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The LFB was called at around 7.20am and the fire was under control by around 8am.

A spokeswoman from the LFB said: “The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
