Co-working space launches free community dinner scheme
A restored, Grade II-listed coworking space, restaurant and events venue has teamed up with a food charity to launch a free community dinners scheme, where all diners eat for free.
The restaurant, Kindred in Bradmore Square next to Hammersmith station, will launch the new scheme with food charity Nourish Hub on December 4.
All residents from Hammersmith and Fulham can book a ticket for the free meal on Kindred’s website. Anyone booking a ticket can chose the main meal and put own any dietary requirements.
The community dinners will take place on the first Monday of each month for a year. Each month will have a brand new menu created by Kindred chef Khaled Merah – inspired by the flavours and ingredients found in his home country of Algeria.
The menu for the first dinner includes lamb tagine with vegetable couscous, tabouleh and flat bread, or miso and mango glazed aubergine, buckwheat and pomegranate crumble.
There will also be desserts of Mouhalabieh – a Middle Eastern, set milk pudding flavoured with rose water and vanilla – as well as a warm and sticky semolina cake with coconut and almonds.
To encourage the diners to get to know each other there will also be optional games and Kindred will provide guests with one complimentary drink – with subsequent drinks available to buy.
On the night there will be the option to donate to the Nourish Hub – but there is no obligation.
Founder Anna Anderson, said: “It’s about being a part of the community, and contributing where we can, when we can.
“The launch of our monthly community dinners will continue Kindred’s work in bringing together our community and helping West Londoners to meet, eat and enjoy time together in a beautiful setting.”
Kindred opened in 2018, and runs throughout the day as a cafe and coworking space. In the evening, the buildings ‘cellar’ is open as a restaurant serving food until late with a focus on sustainable produce and local suppliers.
Day and night-time events also run throughout the year, with regular talks, workshops and live performances.
