Lee Bowyer has welcomed news that Charlton Athletic are set to offer him a new contract – and admits he wants to stay.
A fans’ forum earlier this week heard Lieven De Turck, representing the club in takeover talks, reveal that their was widespread approval for handing boss Bowyer and assistant Johnnie Jackson, his number two, fresh deals.
Both are due to be out of contract in June.
Bowyer told the South London Press: “I’m happy that they’ve approached me, for one. And the other side is that I want to stay. I want to finish this season on a high and get promotion.
“And then next season I want to go again in the Championship. I want to be a part of that. I think everybody knows I love the club.”
