Daniel Dubois gets big win in Riyadh over Jarrell Miller – but Ellis Zorro knocked out

Daniel Dubois picked up the most impressive win of his career with a 10th round stoppage of unbeaten American Jarrell Miller in Saudi Arabia tonight.

The Greenwich boxer was coming off a defeat to unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Uysk and back-to-back losses would have left him out of the world title picture.

But Dubois (20-2) delivered when the chips were down and halted Miller (26-1-1) just eight seconds from the end of their bout in Riyadh.

The South Londoner had the greater boxing skills and showed good punch selection against the New Yorker.

Rather than coast to the finish line in the final round, instead Dubois stepped up the punishment to force referee Michael Alexander to step in before the final bell.

It was not such a good evening for Ellis Zorro on the same show.

The Bromley cruiserweight was a huge underdog as he faced Jai Opetaia, widely regarded as the number one in the division.

Opetaia had been forced to relinquish his IBF world title in the lead up as the governing body would not sanction the bout.

And Lewisham-born Zorro was knocked out at the end of the first round by a huge left hand – his first loss in the paid ranks.

Zorro is 17-1 with Opetaia now 24-0.
