Daniel Dubois knocks out Razvan Cojanu to win WBO European title

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Daniel Dubois got back on the knockout trail as he took just two rounds to chop down Razvan Cojanu at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.

The big-punching Greenwich heavyweight, just 21, had been taken the distance by seasoned American Kevin Johnson in his last action in 2018.

But Dubois did not need long to collect his ninth KO in 10 straight wins as Cojanu failed to beat the count.

The Romanian went the distance in a WBO world title challenge against Joseph Parker in 2017. This was a fourth straight reverse for the 31-year-old, who enjoyed a height advantage over his South London opponent.

The finish was impressive. Dubois landed a low blow to the body – and had been warned for that offence in the first round – but then crashed a big left and right home as Cojanu’s legs buckled.

Dubois won the vacant WBO European title.
