Woman in critical condition after broad daylight stabbing

A woman remains in hospital in a critical condition following a stabbing in broad daylight yesterday afternoon.

Police were called at around 4pm to reports that a woman had been stabbed in Penhill Road, Bexley.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a woman – in her 30s – in a critical condition suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Inspector Graham Rickard, from the Bexley policing team, said: “We arrived at the scene within three minutes of the initial report and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived.

“Sadly she is very seriously injured and has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.”

The woman’s attacker remains at large as police enquiries continue, with no arrests made at this stage.

Insp Rickard said: “At this very early stage we believe the suspect is known to her.

“Officers remain at the scene and in the area carrying out a number of enquiries.”
