African fashion on show in Wandsworth this Saturday

A catwalk show to promote the future of African fashion is taking place on Saturday.

The Black and Ethical Fashion Show will take place outside Waitrose at the Southside Shopping Centre from 5pm.

It aims to showcase the future of African clothing designs, while promoting ethical practices, body positivity, diversity and community engagement.

The event is being hosted by Wandsworth’s own Fée Uhssi’s and will feature her new collection, alongside exclusive designs from well-established and emerging designers, and fashion brands from the black community in Wandsworth and across South-west London.

Each garment and outfit being prepared for the show has been designed to carry a narrative about its heritage and tell stories about its cultural significance, according to the promoters.

Fée Uhssi said: “I’m excited to bring together designers, models and fashion enthusiasts from all backgrounds to celebrate the rich heritage of African fashion and showcase the unique talents of our community, and I hope people can join me for an unforgettable evening of fashion, culture and community.”

Southside is located between Garratt Lane and Neville Gill Close, just a short distance away from King George’s Park. Entrances are in Garratt Lane and on the corner of Buckhold Road.
