‘Easy decision’ – Dons boss frustrated by referee call in Newport defeat

Johnnie Jackson believed referee Thomas Parsons should have sent off Kyle Jameson in the first half of AFC Wimbledon’s 2-0 defeat at home to Newport on Saturday.

Jameson was issued with a yellow card by Parsons after bringing down Crystal Palace loanee John-Kymani Gordon on the edge of the box.

The Newport defender scored in the second half – meeting a free-kick and slamming a shot past Alex Bass – to wrap up the three points.

Wimbledon saw a run of four straight League Two wins come to an end but are still seventh in the table.

“I don’t want to get into trouble because it’s a tough job they have got,” said Jackson.

“For me, if he’s going to give a foul, then it’s a red card- that’s the rule.

“He [Gordon] is going to get a shot off in the penalty box. His touch takes him into the penalty box and he’s going to get a shot off.

“It’s a red card. If it’s in the box and a penalty, I think the rule is it’s a yellow card.

“He’s given a free-kick on the edge, so it should be a red card.

“It changes the complexion of the game. Does it change the outcome? We will never know about that.

“It’s such an easy decision to give, and he hasn’t given it. It’s annoying.”
