‘I expect a response’ – Neil Harris reacts to Millwall’s defeat at bottom-of-the-table Rotherham
Neil Harris wants to see a response from his Millwall side following Easter Monday’s defeat at Rotherham United.
The Lions were beaten 2-1 by the Millers, which pulled them back into the relegation battle.
They head to Huddersfield Town on Saturday in a crunch six-pointer. A win against the Terriers would see Harris’ side move seven points clear of their opponents.
Speaking after the defeat at Rotherham, Harris said: “I expect a response – I expect to see a response at the training ground tomorrow morning. I want to see leadership from the group from the senior players.
“When I watch the replay, I want to see strong performances and characteristics from the players given the chance to play today. I want to see players who weren’t in the team today – I want to see character from them. I want to see hunger on the training pitch to be on the team on Saturday.”
Despite the disappointing result, the Lions are still four points above the bottom three with six games to play – something Harris was keen to get across heading into the final six games of the season.
He added: “We must respond from today accordingly.
“Today was a disappointing result against a team at the foot of the table but we can’t dwell on this. It’s a short season. Six games to go – we are in a much healthier position than we were six games ago.
“We were level on points with the teams above Rotherham. We are now four points clear of them, so we have to make sure we maintain that and that we put in a positive performance and result at Huddersfield.”
