Revamped playground reopens just in time for holidays
Children and their parents flocked to a newly refurbished playground last week after it reopened.
The playground in Broadwater Green, West Thamesmead, was officially reopened on March 28 with a new wooden climbing frame, slides, swings and a woodland walking trail with new trees and bird boxes to boost biodiversity.
At the opening event, children tried out the new play facilities as well as enjoying a treasure hunt, seed planting, and face painting.
The playground received the much-needed makeover from housing group Peabody with designer Land Use Consultants (LUC), landscape contractor Bowles and Wyer and artist Jim Buchanan Projects.
Sue Forsyth, Peabody’s project manager for landscape in Thamesmead, said: “Many people were eager for us to bring this play space back to life.
“Seeing so many families come to the opening celebration shows just how much the community values it.”
