‘They are excellent’ – Crystal Palace boss Glasner asked about Eze and Olise after West Ham win

Oliver Glasner recognised the quality of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise in Crystal Palace’s 5-2 win over West Ham – but the Eagles boss wanted to highlight the display of his entire team instead of individuals.

Eze and Olise were starting together in the Premier League for just the sixth time this season, with the duo both suffering different injuries over the course of the campaign.

Olise opened the scoring after seven minutes – rising highest to head home Joachim Andersen’s cross.

Eze doubled Palace’s lead quickly after acrobatically firing home a shot after Jean-Philippe Mateta forced a save from Lukasz Fabianski.

French youngster Olise set up Mateta for Palace’s third goal, crossing low along the face of goal for the striker to score.

Eze turned provider for Mateta in the second half, nutmegging Kurt Zouma for the Frenchman’s ninth Premier League goal of the season.

“They are excellent players and they are important for our attack.

“But all the other players also work hard so they can get into these positions.

“Michael’s goal with his head, which is maybe not his biggest strength, but it was the cross from Joachim Andersen after they cleared a set piece – how we played then was excellent.

“It’s a team game. Yes, we know they have fantastic qualities, and they showed it by playing like this. They were creative in dribbling and passing.

“But we allowed West Ham four shots today and this is important for me.

“Everybody has to work hard for the team. This is the basics.

“It’s the runs that Daniel Munoz makes that gives Michael space.

“It’s the runs that Tyrick Mitchell makes that gives Eze space.

“The last goal in the second half was because Will Hughes travelled with the ball and then he passed, and we had all three players in a position where they could score.

“For the own goal, we had three players in the six-yard box – it makes it difficult for defenders.

“They are fantastic players and important players for us, but today was an excellent today performance.”
