Oliver Glasner provides Will Hughes injury update and welcomes back Crystal Palace midfielder ahead of Aston Villa

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Will Hughes will miss Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season with the injury the Crystal Palace midfielder picked up in the 3-1 win over Wolves last Saturday.

But the Austrian boss will welcome back Jefferson Lerma to his matchday squad for the clash at Selhurst Park.

Villa qualified for the Champions League on Tuesday night after Spurs failed to beat Manchester City at home.

Lerma, who looks set to be included in the Colombia squad for their Copa America tournament over the summer break, has been missing with a hamstring injury he picked up in the 1-0 win at Liverpool.

The Eagles could finish in the top 10 if they beat Villa and Brighton and Bournemouth fail to win.

“Will is out for the last game against Aston Villa,” he said.

“It looked terrible on the video – in the game and also on the video – but fortunately everything is okay with his ligament.

“He has a bone bruise and he will be out for several weeks. He should be back when we start with pre-season, but he is out for the last game.

“Jefferson Lerma is fit and will come back to the squad, and all others are still fit.

“I’m always pleased if a player comes back from injury.

“It’s good, but he was out for four weeks now and this was the first week of training, so he has to get back into the rhythm, but it’s good to have him back.

“We lost Will, and we lost Ama [Naouirou Ahamada] because of the red card, so both are not available and this gives us another option in midfield.”
