Gareth Southgate makes Michael Olise admission after Crystal Palace attacker misses out on France Euro 2024 squad

Gareth Southgate has admitted England should have an interest in trying to convince Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise to switch allegencies from France.

Olise, born in London, has represented France at U18 and U21 level.

The 22-year-old was snubbed by Didier Deschamps for the senior squad ahead of Euro 2024 despite recoridng 16 goal contributions in 19 Premier League outiongs.

Our paper expects Olise to be called up to Thierry Henry’s France squad for the Olympics.

Winger Olise is also eligible to represent Algeria and Nigeria at international level.

“He would have to have a transfer of association,” said Southgate.

“That process would take quite a while.

“He is obviously a very good player, he hasn’t made their squad. They might be taking him to the Olympics, I don’t know.

“He is a player we should have an interest in because he is a very good player but there is no way you could do all of that in time for the Euros.”
