Catford Wanderers women’s third team suffer defeat to Ladywell Fields – but men’s side beat Hayes

Catford Wanderers women’s third team found local neighbours, Ladywell Fields, too hot to handle in their evening North Kent League fixture, writes Denis Costelloe.

Flo Price and Kylie Makhani lost to Sabia Khanam and Julia DeFabo, 3-6, 2-6 and lost on the same scoreline to the visitor’s second pair of Jackie Li and Yusamin Sabaghi.

Wanderers’ second pair, Nicole Martin and Liz Murphy, fared no better and lost in straight sets.

Catford Mixed second team welcomed Oakwood seconds and could only pick up one win and two draws.

Brian Brass and Lilla Brown were the two successes securing a 7-6, 6-2 win over Belliappa Konganda and Sue Beresford.

The drew 4-6, 6-2 against Steve Monaghan and Claire Moroney. It was left to the men’s side to halt the club’s losing run, and they beat Hayes.  The side was Tom Allen and Will Liney, Brian Brass and Julian Langley, Sean Harvey and Andrew Oforo.
