Millwall boss Neil Harris rules two summer signings out of Gillingham pre-season clash

Neil Harris has revealed that Macaulay Langstaff and Japhet Tanganga will both miss Saturday’s pre-season clash at League Two side Gillingham.

However, new goalkeeper Lukas Jensen will make his Lions debut at the Priestfield Stadium.

Millwall secured three players on permanent deals this week.

Langstaff, 27, joined the Lions on Monday in a deal from League Two side Notts County.

Former loanee Tanganga put pen to paper on a permanent deal at The Den on Wednesday after assessing his options following his release from Spurs.

Jensen, 25, joined from League One side Lincoln and also penned a long-term deal with the club on Thursday.

Harris ruled fellow stopper Connal Trueman out for the next couple of months due to ankle ligament damage.

This will be Millwall’s first test of the new season in front of fans after they played Bromley behind closed doors during the week.

 “Lukas will play tomorrow,” said Harris.

“Macaulay and Japhet won’t play tomorrow.

“They’re not ready to play, physically. 

“Japhet’s only been in the building three days, so he’s definitely not ready. 

“I’m hoping he can get involved next week once his physical markers get to the level.

“Macaulay is absolutely fine and he’s trained again today. 

“I didn’t realise that his off-season programme was a lot less than our players due to an injection he had in his toe last season. 

“He’s not going to be ready to feature at the weekend but will be training with Japhet and a couple of other U21 players at the training ground tomorrow.

”Presuming the four first-team lads come through tomorrow, they will be involved next week.”

Key midfielder Billy Mitchell will also be missing along with youngster Adam Mayor.

 “Billy Mitchell won’t be available tomorrow,” added Harris.

“That’s an ongoing issue that we’re looking deeper into. I’ll give you more details when I can.”
