Car destroyed by flames as garage fire breaks out

Half of a ground floor garage was damaged by fire – destroying a car that was inside.

The blaze took hold in Galloway Road, Hammersmith, last night.

Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters were mobilised to tackle the fire – which was underneath dwellings. Fortunately it did not spread and there were no reports of any injuries.

Control Officers received the first of 16 calls at 10.30pm and the fire was extinguished by 11.45pm. Crews from Hammersmith, Kensington and North Kensington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the brigade and the Met.
