‘Kamarl has had the balls’ – Ex-Millwall defender Webster hails Grant for Bromley loan move

Bromley captain and ex-Millwall defender Byron Webster has praised Lions loanee Kamarl Grant for leaving the comfort of academy football.

The 21-year-old re-joined Bromley for an initial loan until the January window – which has the option to be extended for the season – after winning promotion to League Two with Andy Woodman’s side at the end of last season.

Grant started the first game of the season – a 2-0 win at Harrogate Town – as the Ravens won their very first EFL outing.

It was also Grant’s first League Two start, as the defender added the second of the afternoon to wrap up all three points.

“He should have a hell of a career,” speaking ahead of the start of the season, Webster told the South London Press.

“What I love about Kamarl is that he wants to learn and he listens. There is no ego with him.

“But on the other side, he’s a very confident lad who listens and backs himself.

“Going from U23s football into men’s football is a big change – it doesn’t matter who you are.

“He’s grown into it. Some young lads nowadays can sit in the U23s and say: ‘I play for Millwall, Arsenal or Chelsea,’ and it looks good on their social media.

“Kamarl has had the balls to come out of that safe haven and wants to play men’s football to progress his career.

“For me, that’s massive and it says a lot about him.”
