Esse money! Millwall confirm top attacking talent has signed new contract

Romain Esse has signed a new contract at Millwall.

The 19-year-old South Londoner’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of June.

Millwall have been determined to secure Esse to fresh terms and the England U19 international has now put pen to paper. The Lions have not revealed the length of those terms.

Esse has been a fixture in the first-team with his goal sealing the EFL Cup win at Portsmouth earlier this month. The attacker also netted in the 4-3 defeat at Bristol City.

The teenager needs five more appearances for 50 in a Millwall shirt.

“Signing Romain on a multi-year contract is really big business by the club,” Millwall’s director of football Steve Gallen told the club’s website. “It shows what we are trying to achieve.

“Romain has come through the academy and is a flagbearer for all the young players at the football club. Everyone from the U9s upwards, all the way to the U21s, can look at him and believe they can rise through the ranks too.

“I’m really pleased he has committed to sticking with us. I’d like to thank James Berylson and Neil Harris, who have been supportive all the way through.”
