Charlton Athletic boss Jones not looking to postpone Rotherham United fixture – even if international call-ups allow it

Nathan Jones has revealed he is currently minded to play Charlton Athletic’s League One home game against Rotherham United next weekend.

The Addicks’ fixture against Steve Evans’ side is during the international break.

There is a chance that Charlton, who have won their first three league matches, might be able to postpone the fixture with a number of internationally-capped players in their squad – Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Daniel Kanu, Karoy Anderson and new signing Kaheim Dixon.

But with the Addicks in a good place after three successive 1-0 victories in their bread-and-butter competition, Jones told the South London Press that he is keen to not have a break.

“If we can play it, we want to play it,” said the Charlton manager.

“Potentially we have enough (call-ups) to call it off but it’s whether we feel that needs to be done. It will be an internal decision after the weekend, once we know officially who has been called up. And if we don’t get enough call ups then there won’t be a choice anyway.

“If we do, there will be a decision to make.”
