Arsenal winger was sold on Fulham head coach Silva’s playing pitch

Reiss Nelson will be hoping for his first minutes as a Fulham player in Saturday’s Premier League derby against West Ham United.

The 24-year-old had also been a loan target for Ipswich Town at the end of the summer transfer window but made a temporary move to west London on deadline day.

Nelson was not signed in time to face the Tractor Boys in Fulham’s last fixture before the international break, a 1-1 draw at Portman Road.

“Deadline day was a lot of waiting around,” Nelson told FFCtv. “My brother is my agent so it was a bit easier – because he lives around the corner. I was waiting at his house, all the family were there as well. It was a bit up and down – I didn’t really know what was going on – but in the end I think I made the right decision.

“I spoke with the boss (Marco Silva) and he convinced me about the project and it was something I couldn’t turn down.

“The boss likes to play out from the back and he likes inverted wingers, so ones who are either foot and can combine with the striker. That complements where I want to play.

“Ambitions are really high. We’ve got great players in every position. It is something we can thrive off. It’s about playing good football and attacking football – going to grounds and not being afraid of playing against the top teams.”

Fulham were 5-0 victors over West Ham when the sides last met at Craven Cottage in December 2023.

The Whites then head to Preston North End in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
