Charlton Athletic boss wants to bring veteran striker in to ‘live and breathe the football club’

Charlton manager Nathan Jones has confirmed he is keen to bring in veteran former Luton Town striker Danny Hylton.

Our website broke the news that the 35-year-old forward, a free agent since leaving Northampton at the end of last season, was set to be handed a three-month contract.

Asked if there had been any movement on Hylton, Jones told the South London Press: “We’re just waiting for a few little things but we’d like to bring him in. We’d like to add him to the squad as a character and as a player.

“Once we have got any real update on that then we’ll give it to you.

“But he has been training with us for a while and maybe there is a little scope to do something.

“If there is then he’ll be an important member of the squad. He will push, he will educate – live and breathe the club – to be an example to others. When needed he will be something we can rely on for something different. That’s the beauty of it.”
