Former Wimbledon defender lands National League South move with Welling

Welling United have signed former Wimbledon defender Paul Osew.

The 23-year-old has been a free agent since leaving National League side Woking last season.

Osew made five appearances during his time at Woking and registered two goal contributions.

He came through Wimbledon’s academy and registered 75 outings for the Dons before leaving at the start of Johnnie Jackson’s reign.

Osew joined Northampton in March 2023 and registered four outings.

Welling are 18th in the National League South.

Stringer said: “I’m really excited to bring in two left-sided players. Alex is a left-sided centre-half who can also play at left full-back, while Paul is an attacking left-back with experience who brings us versatility down the left-hand side.

“They’ll both be good signings for us, replacing Jacob Mensah and Oscar Borg, who have left the club. It gives us balance on that left side of defence.”
