Birmingham striker Alfie May back fighting fit ahead of Charlton Athletic return
Alfie May feels he is back firing on all cylinders as the Birmingham striker gets set for a Valley return on Saturday.
Charlton Athletic sold the 31-year-old striker – who won last season’s League One Golden Boot – to the Blues in the summer.
May has netted five times in eight appearances for the Midlanders – five points clear at the top of the table – with the latest coming in the 1-0 midweek win over Huddersfield Town.
The former Cheltenham forward came off the bench when the Blues recorded a 1-0 victory in the EFL Cup in SE7 in August.
Illness saw May’s game time cut in recent weeks but he played the first 68 minutes against the Terriers.
He told Birmingham’s official website: “We had a massive illness which kept the kids off school and the missus was in bed for three days. It wrote us off.
“It’s nice that I’m back to feeling normal again.”
May scored 27 goals in all competitions for Charlton.
