‘Reckless and dangerous’ – Dons boss believes Salford attacker should have seen red for Joe Lewis challenge

Johnnie Jackson believed that Salford attacker Kelly N’Mai should have been sent off for a foul on Joe Lewis in AFC Wimbledon’s 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

N’Mai set up Junior Luamba for the winner in the 84th minute.

Defender Lewis was forced off with a knee injury caused by the challenge of the Salford forward in the 55th minute.

“I’m disappointed we lost a game of football,” Jackson told Wimbledon’s YouTube channel.

“I’m conflicted because I don’t want to be too critical of the players – they have given everything today.

“For sure, we weren’t at our best, but we should have come away with something.

“Things have gone well against us today.

“They should be down to 10 men for the foul on Joe Lewis in the corner.

“It’s a reckless and dangerous challenge – it should be a straight red card.

“Joe has to come off because of that tackle – it disrupted us.

“We have had opportunities at the end where we have to score and come away with something.

To get undone when we haven’t given away any chances. For when we do, it gets set up by the guy ironically who shouldn’t be on the pitch.

“It’s hard to be so critical of the players when they have given everything.”
