Will Ben Thompson miss the rest of Millwall’s season? Boss Neil Harris makes admission on midfield star

BY JAKE SANDERS

Neil Harris fears that Ben Thompson’s season could be over after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury against Brentford on Good Friday.

The Millwall midfielder has been in excellent form since returning from Portsmouth at the start of the January transfer window.

But his season could be cut short after he collided with Henrik Dalsgaard in the first-half of Millwall’s draw with the Bees – needing to be replaced.

Thompson missed the Lions’ 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Easter Monday and the Lions chief provided a worrying update.

“Thommo has not had a scan yet because of the timings,” Harris said. “Because he got injured on Good Friday and [it] being Easter Monday. We still won’t get a scan until tomorrow, but the likelihood is he won’t play again this season.”

Harris had praise for Dave Martin after he pulled off a string of saves at Villa Park.

“Dave was excellent – his handling was excellent,” said the Lions chief. “It was probably an even better performance than he put in here last year when he made his league debut. He deserved a clean sheet.”
