‘He’s got the world at his feet’ – Joel Ward makes Adam Wharton statement as Crystal Palace midfielder makes Golden Boy shortlist

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been named on the 25-man shortlist for the 2024 Golden Boy award.

The award is handed out by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport. Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham won last year.

Wharton joined the Eagles from Championship side Blackburn Rovers last January and made a late charge into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 following his impressive performances in the Premier League.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Real Madrid’s Arda Guler are all up for the award.

“I think he’s got the world at his feet,” Palace team-mate Joel Ward told talkSPORT.

“He’s a young lad and he’s very mature, very wise. He plays the game, reads the game and understands the game so well.

“His ability on the ball, his vision and what he’s seeing ahead of time is pretty impressive.”
