Crystal Palace boss delivers Eze and Wharton injury blow – both to miss upcoming games against Wolves and Fulham
Oliver Glasner says Crystal Palace duo Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton will be out for the next two Premier League outings against Wolves and Fulham.
Greenwich-born Eze went off in the first half of Palace’s 2-1 EFL Cup win at Aston Villa on Wednesday evening with a hamstring injury and will be out for the upcoming games before the November international break.
But Cheick Doucoure will return to the matchday squad for the trip to Molineux.
“He’s injured – hamstring injury,” said Glanser of Eze’s early withdrawal at Villa Park.
“We will miss him at least against Wolves and Fulham, then let’s see. He will be out for those two games.
“There is hope to get him back after the international break, but it will be very ambitious to have him back [straight] after, but we have a great medical department.
“He will work hard. Let’s see.”
Glasner has also confirmed that Adam Wharton, who has been nursing a groin injury throughout the season, will also undergo surgery.
The Austrian manager expects the 20-year-old for be out for four weeks.
Glasner said: “We took the final decision, he will have surgery so won’t be available for Wolves.
“He tried [to train today] but he’s in too much pain. It makes no sense, he really struggled in the last weeks and months. We hope to have him back in maybe four weeks.
“The positive thing is that Cheick Doucoure will be back in the squad, maybe earlier than we expected. He can’t be at 100 per cent, but it’s important that he’s with us.
“Next week, Chris Richards should train with us.”
