Cricket: All-rounder Alice Capsey commits to Surrey
Alice Capsey is the latest player to commit to Surrey’s new tier 1 professional team.
Born in the county, the all-rounder has represented the Three Feathers since the age of nine. She made her Surrey debut in 2019 at the age of 14, making an immediate impact with three wickets.
The explosive top-order batter has played over 50 times for England since making her debut against South Africa in 2022 at the age of 17. She has since gone on to represent England at two ICC IT20 World Cups.
Capsey has represented the South East Stars since 2020 and scored the winning runs as they secured the 2021 Charlotte Edwards Cup. She has since gone on to play an important role at the Oval Invincibles, Delhi Capitals in the WPL, and both the Melbourne Stars and Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League.
Capsey said: “It’s a dream to be part of the first professional team at my home county. The club has been a big part of my life since the age of nine and has shown great support to me throughout.
“I’m looking forward to wearing the Three Feathers and working hard with the team to bring success to our club.”
Emma Calvert, Surrey’s director of women’s cricket, said: “Alice is a brilliant example of the strength of the club’s pathway. She has represented the club since the age of nine and represented England at 17. Her journey is an inspiration to young cricketers around the county.
“We are incredibly excited that Alice will represent her home club and look forward to seeing her in action at the Kia Oval.”
