An evening in support of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) was hosted by Walid and Maysa Daas, the owners of MORA Meza Bar and Restaurant in Raynes Park, on Monday.
The evening was organised by Aaron Mafi of the Workers Party of Britain and guests enjoyed a three course middle eastern meal and were entertained with poetry from Shahd Karaeen and musician and singer Saife Ainaffakh.
This was followed by a raffle and auction, which raised more than £1,000 for MAP.
George Galloway was guest of honour at the event. The former MP said: “I am delighted to be part of the evening to help raise funds for such a worthy cause that I have been involved in since its inception.
“MAP is responding to the emergency in Gaza right now. The teams on the ground are working with local health partners delivering much needed medical supplies to hospitals and emergency responders.
“They need our help urgently, so thank you all for being here.”
