Millwall land former Brighton and Hull forward after ripping up Sunderland contract

Millwall have signed forward Aaron Connolly on a permanent deal from Championship side Sunderland.

The 24-year-old was released by the Black Cats after making just 10 Championship appearances under Regis Le Bris.

Connolly has had spells at Venezia FC, Hull City, Luton Town and Middlesbrough FC during his career.

The Republic of Ireland international has registered 13 Championship goals to his name.

Alex Neil had room for a forward in his squad with Tom Bradshaw, 32, sealing a switch to Championship rivals Oxford after passing a medical on Tuesday.

Bradshaw will link up with ex-Lions boss Gary Rowett at The Kassam Stadium.

Millwall director of football Steve Gallen said: “We’re pleased to bring Aaron into the club. (He) has been a bit unlucky not to play a bit more at Sunderland this season, but that has given us an opportunity to get him in.

“Still only 24, Aaron has a lot of experience for his age.

“He is at his best when running at defenders and we hope he gets plenty of opportunities to do that with us.”
