‘We have to fix this’ – Millwall’s new club record signing Neghli on desire to make Den transfer
Millwall’s new club record signing Camiel Neghli has talked about his desire to play in England.
The Lions signed the 23-year-old winger from Sparta Rotterdam on Friday.
Neghli was in the crowd for Saturday’s 2-1 win over QPR and also introduced to supporters before kick off.
He has scored 10 goals in 47 league appearances for the Rotterdam outfit.
“I’m very happy that a new story is about to begin,” Neghli told Millwall TV.
“Yeah (he wants to add creativity and spark to Millwall’s play), in combination with distance shots and short play, so I can surprise the keeper or opponent. I think it is something I can bring to the team.
“My agency called (about Millwall) and I was really excited and interested because of the competition and the club – I really like it. So when I heard about it I was saying: ‘Yeah, we have to fix this’.
“Football comes from here and the leagues are better – it is more competitive than the Netherlands. I want to grow as a footballer and as person, so it is good to step out of the Netherlands. In England it is a lot more organised and better. And maybe also more positive – so that is also a good thing about England.
“They (Alex Neil and Steve Gallen) gave me faith and the project was good for me, for the future. I think I fit in the team and they told me they need a player like me, so it was a perfect step for me.
“I want to come to a club and get the faith I think I deserve. They gave it to me.”
