Oliver Glasner delivers assessment on Crystal Palace’s transfer window
Oliver Glasner was pleased with Crystal Palace’s business during the January transfer window.
The Eagles signed Romain Esse from local rivals Millwall in a £14.5million deal and also loaned in Ben Chilwell from Chelsea on deadline day for the rest of the season.
Palace were targeting a left wing-back to provide cover and competition for Tyrick Mitchell before the window started. adequately
They were also in the market for another creative attacker after failing to adequately replace Michael Olise in the summer.
Rob Holding was loaned to Sheffield United and Jeffrey Schlupp was sent to Celtic for the rest of the season.
But the South Londoners also lost Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure for the rest of the season last month.
“It was a very positive transfer window for us,” said Glasner.
“We defined the targets, positions and profiles very early – far before the transfer window.
“We started working on it. Like always, of course, you have two wishes. To sign them on January 1 and they start training with us on the second, but I’m really convinced we found the right players for us.
“With Romain, he’s a young, highly talented player. With Ben, he’s much more experienced and knows the Premier League.
“We always want a good combination in our group. We loaned Jeffrey Schlupp to Celtic and we lost a very experienced Premier League player and a very important player in the changing room.
“Schluppy was highly respected by everyone in the dressing room and club because of his career and personality.
“I think we did a good job.”
