Oliver Glasner sets next Premier League target for Crystal Palace after win at Fulham

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner was delighted with his side’s performance as they bounced back from defeat at home to Everton with a club Premier League record-breaking away win at Fulham.

Palace had the first chance of the match after four minutes when Tyrick Mitchell played through Jean-Philippe Mateta.

But the French striker, who has scored in his last three Premier League away games, could not fire past Bernd Leno.

Mateta was played through again by Eberechi Eze in the 34th minute, but the former Mainz forward was unable to latch onto the ball over the top of the Fulham defence.

The Eagles took the lead minutes later when Joachim Andersen turned Will Hughes’ corner into his own net with six minutes of normal time remaining.

Palace thought they doubled the lead in the 55th minute when Eze cleverly backheeled Mateta through on goal – but the striker was offside ruled offside by VAR.

Glasner’s side were denied twice in quick succession five minutes later – Leno saving Maxence Lacroix’s header and the follow-up volley headed over by Raul Jimenez.

The South Londoners eventually doubled their lead five minutes later when Mateat rolled through Munoz on the overlap from a counter-attacking situation.

The Colombian checked past Calvin Bassey and smashed the ball beyond Leno with power from a tight angle.

Palace saw out the game to register their fourth straight away win in the Premier League for the first time.

“All the credit to the players,” said Glasner.

“They did very well today and they were very solid. They defended well and did a great job.

“We waited for situations and stayed patient. We decided the game with an amazing goal from Daniel Munoz.

“I’m really pleased with the win and the performance today.”

There are 12 Premier League games left of the season, with the Eagles 11 points off the top seven.

“Our next goal is 36 points,” said Glasner.

“I mentioned it last year. Our approach must be that we play to win the game.

“Today was Crystal Palace football. We stuck all the strengths together of every single player and performed as a team.

“This is what we want to be and who we want to be. You can always lose a game, that’s football.

“But you have to always show your personality. Today, we showed our personality.”
