Dillian Whyte pulls out of Joe Joyce heavyweight clash

Dillian Whyte has pulled out of his April 5 heavyweight clash against Joe Joyce.

Queensberry Promotions, who are putting on the show at the Co-Op Live in Manchester, announced today that the Brixton fighter had suffered a hand injury in training.

“A replacement opponent is now being finalised for The Juggernaut (Joyce) and an announcement regarding this will be made shortly,” they added in a statement.

Whyte turns 37 next month and ended a nine-month absence from the ring when he forced Ebenezer Tetteh to retire in the seventh round in Gibraltar in December.

The South Londoner was stopped by Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium in April 2022 – he had been WBC interim world champion at the time – but has struggled to get any kind of momentum to his career since.
