Surrey Docks Fitness and Watersports Centre offers free stand-up paddle boarding sessions
A watersports centre is offering free stand-up paddle boarding sessions during the summer for young people aged between 12 and 18.
Surrey Docks Fitness and Watersports Centre will be offering the sessions, run by sports and leisure company Everyone Active, every Thursday from 5pm until 6.30pm for anyone interested in giving the activity a go.
Stand-up paddle boarding is remarkably easy to pick up, requiring a smaller technical introduction compared to other water sports.
All equipment will be provided and qualified instructors will be on hand to share their expertise and offer support throughout.
The activity is being funded by the Bermondsey and Rotherhithe Neighbourhoods Fund, which aims to make a real difference to the lives and neighbourhoods of local people in Southwark.
“There’s never a better time than the present to take up a new activity and learn a new skill,” said James Tierney, community development manager from Everyone Active
“Stand up paddle boarding is a really fun activity that we wholly encourage people to try out, especially in the summer months. “We’re looking forward to welcoming people down throughout the summer to try their hand at the sport.”
Places are limited each week, so pre-booking is advised. Visit the centre or call 0333 005 0409.
