Millwall are set to make their sixth signing of the summer transfer window – with Reading’s Jon Dadi Bodvarsson incoming.

The Lions had agreed a fee with the Royals for the 27-year-old Icelandic international.

And talks this week with the player saw personal terms sorted.

Bodvarsson should be confirmed as a Millwall player in time to fly out with the squad today for their training camp in Portugal.

Bodvarsson is the fifth addition to the senior ranks – Alex Pearce, Frank Fielding, Matt Smith and Connor Mahoney are the other new boys. Tyler Burey has been added from AFC Wimbledon, but the teenage winger will go into their U23 squad.

Bodvarsson has played for Viking, Kaiserslautern and Wolves before arriving at Reading in the summer of 2017.

He played against England when Roy Hodgson’s side were knocked out of the 2016 World Cup in the last-16 stage.

Bodvarsson is predominantly a centre-forward but can also play on either wing.

He has scored 16 goals in 95 Championship matches.

Reading are under a soft transfer embargo and needed players to head out to allow them to do incoming dealings of their own. Bodvarsson had been told he was able to leave provided a deal could be agreed.

Millwall were short in the centre-forward department at times last season. But they now have Smith, Bodvarsson, Tom Bradshaw and Tom Elliott – although the latter is available at the right price.
