Crimestoppers and Openreach offer £1k reward to catch cable thieves
The charity Crimestoppers and Openreach, the UK’s largest phone and broadband network, are appealing for information after a series of major cable thefts over the last three weeks within South-east London.
Large sections of live cable have been pulled from the underground communications
network along New Road, Lesnes Abbey Woods, Thamesmead.
The theft occurred between 1am and 4am on the Thursday, August 29.
The damage has left hundreds of residential and business customers in Thamesmead
without use of their phone lines, broadband and TV services. Openreach engineers are working as quickly as possible to restore services.
Openreach is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
