Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor will not need surgery on his knee injury.

The Addicks’ top scorer missed last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Birmingham City after suffering ligament damage while on international duty for Montserrat.

Taylor is in a leg brace and will definitely play no part for a number of weeks.

“Lyle has the same as what Patrick Bauer had last season,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “No [there is no need for an operation]. It’s just a case of him wearing this brace for a few weeks and seeing where we’re at after he takes the brace off. We’ll go from there.”

Bauer missed just over two months of last season, returning in the 5-0 FA Cup win over Mansfield in November.

Charlton failed to score for the first time this season as they also saw the Blues end their unbeaten start in the Championship.
