Wigan Athletic v Charlton Athletic team news: Four Addicks changes as Jason Pearce drops to bench due to injury

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Lee Bowyer makes four changes for Charlton’s trip to Wigan – with captain Jason Pearce only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Former Latics man Pearce had suffered a minor knock this week so Naby Sarr will make his first start since the draw with Nottingham Forest last month, partnering Tom Lockyer in the heart of the defence.

Jonny Williams reclaims his place in the starting eleven from Erhun Oztumer – the former Bolton man doesn’t feature in the matchday squad at all.

Full-back Chris Solly drops to the bench, with Deji Oshilaja filling in at right-back.

Finally, Darren Pratley will wear the captains armband after coming in for West Brom loanee Sam Field.

Jake Forster-Caskey is included amongst the substitutes – his first appearance in the squad since he started the opening day win at Blackburn Rovers, with Beram Kayal not travelling.

Charlton: Phillips, Purrington, Sarr, Lockyer, Oshilaja, Pratley, Cullen, Gallagher, Williams, Leko, Hemed. Subs: Amos, Pearce, Forster-Caskey, Bonne, Solly, Field.
