AFC Wimbledon midfielder: Our performance was too weak against Bristol Rovers

BY DANIEL MARSH

AFC Wimbledon midfielder Anthony Wordsworth felt that Saturday’s defeat against Bristol Rovers summed up their season so far.

No side in League One has lost more points from being in front than the 16 the Dons have lost.

“In the end we were too weak,” said the Dons midfielder. “Everyone probably lost their individual battles. I know we went down to 10 men towards the end, but we conceded sloppy goals. We’ve gone ahead and then we seem to just let our guard down. It’s happened too many times this season.

“If we get that second goal then I feel like we’ll be alright, but at the minute we just can’t get one. We’re so nervous and uptight and it’s been showing in our performances, giving the ball away sloppily and making bad decisions.

“There was only one team that was gonna win it but then it’s that lapse in concentration at the other end and to concede two goals like that, it’s absolutely devastating.”
