Pop Brixton announces return of hugely popular Fizzy Pop UKG Party

Fizzy Pop’ is returning to Pop Brixton for a free party showcasing the finest underground garage the UK has to offer.

Headlining the event is renowned producer and remixer Wookie; an artist widely regarded as an influential founding father of UK Garage, thanks to his back-catalogue featuring singles ‘Battle’, ‘Scrappy’, and ‘Storm’.

Also on the Fizzy Pop lineup is Rinse FM regular, Bklava, and Rhi Spect, a garage DJ who’s graced the stages of festivals including Glastonbury, Unshackled and Konnect.

Pop Brixton

Further to Fizzy Pop, Pop Brixton will be hosting an eclectic mix of free events throughout December:

On Thursday 12th (19:00 – 22:00), Tomorrow’s Warriors are back at the space hosting their special Winter Showcase. The jazz collective will be celebrating a successful 2019 by presenting two bands on their acclaimed Young Artist Development Programme, and then opening up the floor for a jam led by Deji Ijishakin (Kokoroko, Moses Boyd, Nihilism, Hypernova).

On Saturday 14th (13:00 – 15:00), Pop Brixton will be welcoming Fun DMC, a real block party experience designed with children and parents in mind. The free event will feature DJs, a dance teacher, hip-hop colouring in and competitions, before wrapping up to make way for London’s premier hip-hop party, The Doctor’s Orders (16:30 – 00:00).

The following week on Saturday 21st (19:00 – 00:00), Pop Brixton will be getting festive with the Atlantic Soul Orchestra for ‘A December to Remember’. Over the past decade, the orchestra has brought its signature brand of vintage soul to stages all around the world, and its members have recorded and performed live with artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, and Ed Sheeran. This free gig promises to be very special.

To finish 2019 in style, Pop Brixton will be celebrating NYE with ‘So Fresh and So Clean’ on Tuesday 31st (19:00 – 03:00).

With tickets starting at just £5, the party will feature an amazing selection of DJs playing all night long in the Pop Box, plus all of Pop’s street food traders will be open from 7 pm till late, serving everything from wood-fired pizza to amazing bleeding vegan burgers.

On top of these events, Pop Brixton will be playing host to a number of must-see gigs and community events this month. Highlights include:

  • Made in Brixton Youth Market, 13:00 – 18:00 (Sunday 15th of December)

South London’s brightest and best designers, creatives and makers show and sell their wares.

  •  The Floor is Yours: DJ Workshops with Rhythm Sister, 19:00 – 23:00 (Tuesday 10th of December)

Rhythm Sister is a collective supporting womxn, non-binary and the LGBTQA+ community in music through workshops, parties and talks.

Pop Brixton is a cultural hub in the heart of SW9, offering food, drink, music, workshops and more. With each season, the site receives a refresh and makeover, bringing new and interesting events to the local community and Londoners alike.
